Don and Karen Hansen along with Wayne and Marty Brown attended the 2021 MOAA Florida Council of Chapters 44th Annual Convention at the Westin Sarasota Hotel which was held on May 14-16, 2021.  Attending the convention as the Primary Guest Speaker at the Military Ball and Awarder of the 2020 MOAA Communications Awards to the winning Florida Chapters at the President's Reception was Lieutenant General Dana T. Atkins, USAF (Ret.), President of the Military Officer's Association of America.  Also speaking at the Military Ball was U.S. Congressman Greg Steube, Representing Florida's 17th Congressional District.  As President of the Lake & Sumter Counties Chapter of MOAA, Don was presented the 2020 MOAA 5-Star Communications Award for the Chapter Newsletter, Officer's Call, on behalf of LTC Luke Emerson, USA (Ret.), Editor, and for the Chapter Website, lakesumtermoaa.org.  Marty Brown received the 2020 5-Star Communications Award for being the Editor of the FCOC Newsletter.  Wayne Brown, our former Chapter President, was recognized for his hard work as FCOC Mid-Central Area Vice President for the last four years and his successor, LTC Dan Hill, U.S. Army, was sworn in by LTG Atkins at the Military Ball.
